The BMP Newsletter is back after a 6-month break! In this issue, we will talk about starting the new academic year ahead as well as some potential opportunities for you to get involved in!

It’s been exactly 6 months since our last issue, and a lot has been going on since then! The BMP team have been strategising behind the scenes for the year ahead, with many things in the pipeline in what looks to be an exciting few months ahead.

📚 Back to Medical School

With summer ending, we are reminded that medical school is looming and very much upon us! However, for some of you in your clinical years, you may have already started before the end of summer (you are in our prayers!)

For others (like myself), you may also be starting your intercalated degree and being completely out of your comfort zone with new modules to prepare for.

Whatever your situation, here at BMP, we’d like you to be prepared for the year. As medical students, our circumstances are unique, and we have the privilege of interacting with patients from various backgrounds. At times, we can also get involved in procedures and play an active part in a patient’s care plan.

This can feel like a lot of responsibility, and going on clinical placement can underline the importance of professionalism. As such, it is vital that you already have professional protection in place through medicolegal services, as this will also be a mainstay of your career.

Professional protection can assist you with any medicolegal problems that might arise from your work on placement which is always a consideration when interacting with patients. To help you with this, BMP and Society have collaborated to enable every BMP Network member to gain free membership and protection with Medical Protection Society (MPS). All you need to do is sign up!
